Salt of the Earth

Let's be honest: I'm very...no, extremely picky when it comes to what I put on my face. Not just any foundation is going to please me or my easily-irritated skin. So of course when I'd heard about the millions of women who are obsessed with Bare Escentuals i.d. bare minerals foundation, I became curious. Now usually, I go into new product situations as a skeptic...and with this product, I did exactly that. However, I really wanted to like it because it was a little on the expensive side. So I just dove in and purchased a starter kit directly from the Bare Escentuals website in the shades Fair/Fairly Light for my pale skin (the actual BE website is the only place I have found where you can get this kit in the two very lightest shades instead of the Light/Fairly Light kit). Surprisingly, the Fairly Light shade seemed to match my skin tone better, probably because of summer. Now after the first use of this kit (which also included Warmth all-over face color, Mineral Veil, and Clear Radiance) I was really put off. I wanted to send it all back and wondered how so many people could possibly be so amazed by this. After encouraging myself to keep trying, I finally figured out the best way the products worked for me, and i now FULLY understand why this line is so acclaimed! The foundation provides pretty decent coverage and really evens out my skin tone. The Warmth gives me the perfect warm glow, and the Mineral Veil works well as a finishing powder. Now when I apply this makeup, I swear my face looks luminescent! For $60, I am EXTREMELY pleased with this purchase. I would reccommend Bare Escentuals for anyone!

Have A Mocktail

So a few weeks ago, I turned 21. My boyfriend, who knows me all too well, basically took me on a Sephora shopping spree as my gift (and he, being the manly man that he is, even played with products with me! awww). In the spirit of becoming legal, I decided to pick up one of Lorac's Mocktail lipglosses. After much deliberation, I decided on "Guava Tiki," a sheer peachy-pink color. At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about it but after continued usage, I like it for sure. Now mind you, it is not some revolutionary lip product, but it's fun and smells yummy...so why not? It also provides just a tiny hint of color that would look pretty on mostly anyone. I think it's a fun addition to any beauty arsenal.

Classic Beauty

So I've been writing like a maniac lately but I've recently been experimenting with a lot of new products...and I want to keep record of what I love and hate. One item that I feel every beauty fanatic should have in her arsenal of products is Benefit Benetint. This rose-scented and colored cheek stain has gotten rave reviews from just about every beauty magazine out there over the years, and I, even though I tend to be a skeptic of everything, fell in love with it as well. The color goes on so easily, smells wonderful, and gives my skin a pretty, natural flush that lasts all day long. I recently picked up Benefit's Pocket Pal, which is a portable version of the stain with a clear lip gloss on the other end. I love this product because with just a dab of Benetint on my lips and a single coat of the gloss, I get a beautiful, natural look on my lips as well.

The Eyes Have It...

Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Super Shimmer is probably my new favorite eye shadow. For awhile now I have been using the Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush shadow in Bronze Ambition (I am very fair-skinned with dirty blonde hair)...but I was walking past a Clinique counter recently and my jaw dropped when I came across the most beautiful eye shadow I have ever seen in my life. My new love affair happens to be with Clinique's Colour Surge Eye Shadow Super Shimmer in Strike It Rich. The color is a rich brown-bronze with giant flecks of gold...and when they say Super Shimmer, they mean SUPER. The color is absolutely beautiful when applied with another color as a highlighter, Daybreak. Not only do I love the colors, but Clinique claims that this product gives "Creamy, intense colour in one stroke. Super shimmer finish."...and this is truly the best way to describe it. For those who go for the less bold eye color, try Daybreak alone or experiment with their other colors. And if you're an online shopper, the photos on Clinique's website do not come anywhere close to doing this product justice. I highly suggest swinging by your nearest Clinique counter and checking them out...and hey, if that happens to be at a Macy's, you'll even get a free Bonus gift with purchase.

Speaking of Pain...

So, ever since I was younger I have been overweight. Not obese by any means, but overweight...and today the depression is sinking in. My parents got me two outfits for Easter. Both of the tops fit me...and the pants...not so much. SO I have decided that it is time for a major change in diet and exercise. And it's for real this time. Sometimes I'll get on little week-long kicks where I'll do really well and then from there it all seems to fall apart. And frankly, I'm sick of this. So...I guess I'll use this to stay updated on how I do as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's Painful To Be Pretty...

Today the product that I decided to try was DuWop Lip Venom. I had read many reviews about this product, many of which stated that Lip Venom was a must-have for any beauty savvy chica. I ordered the product online and when it arrived, I was somewhat disappointed to see how small the tube was. However, I immediately ripped it open and slathered it on my lips. Within about a minute, my lips felt hot and tingly, just as the packaging (and many reviews) had warned. I got the gloss yesterday and have been using it ever since every time my lips crave gloss (I cannot stand to have bare lips!). Overall, I am loving it. I have pretty big, plump lips to begin with, so I didn't really notice much plumping effect as of yet. However, for some reason I enjoy the tingle and feel like the clear/slightly pink gloss makes my lips look pretty and refreshed. I would definitely reccomend Lip Venom for girls with pouts in need of plumping.
until next time...stay perfectly pretty :)

A New Beginning

So I'm guessing that probably no one else will ever read this, but just in case...hello! My name is Case. I am a 20-year-old college student in Akron, OH. I guess you could call me beauty-obsessed..and I'm on a search for the best products out there. This blog is mainly for me to write about my experiences with products that I try so that I have a written record of what I love, like, or hate. Lately especially, I have been spending a lot of time on the Internet researching and trying to figure out what products other women swear by and which ones to avoid. I am pretty broke what with being a college kid and all, so most of my earnings go toward things I guess I [don't really] need...like makeup, jewelry, clothes, or bags. I also tend to be somewhat clueless when it comes to new products...so hopefully this will help a bit.
so...here goes nothin'.
